Students Are Citing the Cockroach Janta Party in Civics Exams. Teachers Don't Know How to Mark It.

Asked to give an example of a modern political movement, a growing number of Indian students are writing about the Cockroach Janta Party — and their teachers are genuinely unsure what to do. Is a satirical, unregistered, leaderless digital movement a valid answer to a question about political mobilisation? EdexLive speaks to seventeen teachers across CBSE, ICSE and state boards. Some marked it wrong. Some gave full credit. Several admitted the answers citing CJP were the most engaged writing they had read all term, which is its own uncomfortable commentary on the syllabus.
